2023 Sustainability Report
Pregis is proud to share its sustainability journey driven by three core principles of the Pregis Purpose: Protect, Preserve, and Inspyre.
At Pregis, we embrace our role in contributing to positive sustainability efforts. Our steadfast commitment to designing efficient packaging solutions aims to minimize waste and optimize resources throughout the product lifecycle. This commitment is embodied in our 2K30 sustainability goals—seven key milestones that drive tangible action and guide us toward net zero by 2024.
By 2030, we will achieve these milestones through our dedicated employees, forward-thinking leadership, valued customers and industry partners. As we work toward a circular economy, we are pleased to share the progress made in our annual Sustainability and ESG report.
Here are a few highlights from 2023:
- Achieved 51% of revenues from products that are paper-based, bio-based, or made from a minimum of 30% recycled content
- Launched an industry-first 80% post-consumer recycled content (PCR) high-pressure cushioning product and a first-to-market solution for PE Foam made with Certified Circular resins
- Formally launched a zero-waste program at four flagship facilities, each achieving diversion rates over 95% and a company-wide diversion rate of 91%
- Achieved an 86% reduction in emissions intensity, surpassing our 25% reduction goal seven years ahead of schedule
- Saved 748,806 trees from harvest through the Pregis EasyPack® 100% recycled paper portfolio
- Attained International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS certification for four facilities
- Surpassed $1 million in contributions to Uzima Clean Water Mission and other philanthropic organizations
- Positively impacted 196,617 lives via philanthropic programs, including Pregis Inspyre™ product sales and employee engagement
- Delivered over 450 hours of sustainability training to employees and 560 hours to customers
- Supported over 50 customers in making data-driven sustainability decisions with custom life cycle assessments (LCAs)
